Cape Breton Island ranked as a top destination

Gentlemen’s Quarterly magazine in August 2007 edition ranks Cape Breton as the number 2 summer escape with Pueblo, Mexico as number one and Livingstone, Montana as number 3.

Travel & Leisure magazine in its August edition under 2007 World’s Best Islands,  ranks Cape Breton as number 2 in the islands, “Continental US and Canada category.” Last year Cape Breton was 1st in the Island category for Continental US and Canada and 4th overall in the world. It did not rank in the top ten islands in the world in 2007.

Other past accolades include Cape Breton Highlands National Park ranked 2nd most pristine National Park in North America by National Geographic Traveler Magazine – 2005,  Cape Breton Island ranked second in the Global Destination Scorecard by National Geographic Traveller Magazine in 2004, first was Norweigan Fjords.

Recently Cabot Trail was feature in the Globe and Mail newspaper, Travel Section,  by Bob English, “Just drive, they say” on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
